The Parks Trust teams up with Milton Keynes-based performing arts school for virtual Christmas concert

This year, The Parks Trust are unable to host their annual Christmas carol concert due to coronavirus, so they have decided to go virtual.

With this being the case, The Parks Trust still wanted to be able to spread some festive joy that can be enjoyed safely from the comfort of home. That’s why they have teamed up with Arts1 Performing Arts School to bring you a virtual rendition of some of our favourite Christmas tunes.

On Sunday 20 December at 7.30pm you’ll be able to watch this virtual Christmas Carol concert via The Parks Trust’s Facebook channel. This mini concert will be about 20 minutes long and will include a mix of contemporary and classic Christmas songs such as ‘Have yourself a merry little Christmas’ and ‘Silent Night’.

All of the carols are sung by members of Arts1 Performing Arts School and feature performers of all ages from their 7-year-old soloists right up to their adult choir. Each of the songs has been recorded in a different park so not only will you enjoy some amazing carolling, you’ll also be able to see some beautiful parkland in Milton Keynes such as the Tree Cathedral, the Concrete Cows at Bancroft and Great Linford Manor Park.

Martin Chesse, Events Officer at The Parks Trust, says: "Our annual carols are a very popular event for The Parks Trust, and we’re saddened not to be able to do them this year. We created this virtual event to hopefully get you into the Christmas spirit as well as giving our local singers the opportunity to showcase their talents in a year where so many performances have been cancelled."

James Grimsey, from Arts1, adds: "Arts1 is proud to be flying the flag for Milton Keynes singers in our upcoming singing project with The Parks Trust.  Established in 2006, Arts1 is a professional theatre school based in Linford Wood East. We provide part-time classes and full-time vocational training for children, young people and adults. Arts1 has been busy bringing positivity to MK throughout the period, running live in person classes as well as live streamed sessions for those wanting to attend remotely."

The Parks Trust’s mini Christmas Carol concert can be watched live on their Facebook channel on Sunday 20th December, but if you can’t join them on that date, they will also upload the video to their YouTube channel and share the video again in the week before Christmas.
