Police share results of test in Milton Keynes targeting illegal sale of alcohol and vapes

Thames Valley Police have shared the results of a recent test purchase operation in Milton Keynes, focusing on the illegal sale of alcohol to minors across the city.

Yesterday, August 28, Thames Valley Police’s MK Neighbourhood and Licensing team, alongside Milton Keynes City Council Trading Standards, carried out a proactive operation targeting underage sales of alcohol and vapes across the city.

The results show that two shops sold alcohol through proxy purchases (where an adult bought on behalf of a child), one shop sold alcohol directly to a child, and another sold a vape to a child.

The police responded promptly, issuing fixed penalty notices for the alcohol sales and offering guidance to the businesses involved.

Thames Valley Police MK said, “We will be following up with the business owners to ensure staff receive proper training on underage sales. We regularly carry out these operations to ensure premises abide by their licenses and to safeguard the wellbeing of our young people and communities.”
