MK Dons take on Southend United this afternoon in their latest Central League Cup clash.

MK Dons were beaten 3-2 by Cambridge United in their opening Central League Cup fixture, while Southend United picked up one win and one defeat thus far.

Today's visitors have, though, been impressive in general this Central League season, winning five of their six mathces and scoring an impressive 16 goals.

The Dons, who have yet to taste victory in either the Central League or the Central League Cup, could climb as high as second in Central League Cup Group 4 with a win this afternoon.

In terms of team news, MK Dons have featured predominantly young sides in the Central League this term although first-team players in need of minutes have often featured.

Sam Nombe played last time out and could star again if he can recover from the illness which kept him out of Saturday's Sky Bet League One match while Rhys Healey is another who could get minutes after returning to the squad last weekend.
