Milton Keynes business man wins "Entrepreneur of the year 2024” and gives back to the local community

Ryan Evans received the "Entrepreneur of the year Award 2024” at the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards and is giving back to numerous community events and organisations this year.

Ryan was born in Milton Keynes in 1987 in what he described as a “run down” council estate. In his childhood, Ryan attended two primary schools before going on to attend Stantonbury Campus for his secondary education. He left with very poor grades, and once he left education, he worked in dead end jobs with no sense of direction in his life.

“I ended up getting involved with the wrong crowd and ended up being involved with drugs. I wanted to make a change in my life, and in 2008 I decided to join the British Army, and joined The Rifles in the Infantry.” – Ryan Evans

Ryan passed out of basic training and soon found himself deployed in Afghanistan, whilst his friends he left back home lived a completely separate reality, serving time in prison. Ryan’s time in the Army came to an end in 2013, after sustaining injuries from a grenade whilst serving.

After the army, Ryan went on to work for Anglian Water for the following six years, during which time he had two beautiful daughters, Jamie-Leigh and Summer, before making the decision to branch into the world of entrepreneurship by starting his very own business in 2019. This was the beginning of MK Loft Boarding. Ryan’s initial aim for starting the business was to have more time with his family, and although it was his intentions, things quickly changed after he found his niche in the market, when he realised the need in creating more storage areas in customers lofts. Over the last five years, MK Loft Boarding have grown rapidly, and have now found themselves  with 13 team members, who all play a part in maintaining the success of the business. Over the past 18 months, Ryan has been working closely with Benn from Inond to develop a brand new  energy efficient product that will “revolutionise the way loft boarding is installed into lofts.” With the support of the members, MK Loft Boarding has, and continues to create a noticeable and big presence, both within MK, and beyond; “We now cover as north as Peterborough and as south as London and Oxford - Cambridge. We pride ourselves on giving our clients the best customer service possible”. – Ryan Evans.

This year, Ryan was honoured to receive the prestigious "Entrepreneur of the year Award 2024”; Milton Keynes Business Achievements Award, which in his own words he is “immensely proud of”.

Ryan goes on to say, “With the success that we have had, we try to give back as much as possible to the local communities where and when we can. To name a few, we have supplied numerous tablets to Whitehouse primary school which is where MK Loft Boarding originated. We have sponsored many local football clubs, including MK city young girls teams, and both the men's A & B teams. “. We have worked alongside the fabulous MKFM for the past 3 years who have helped showcase our amazing work and really helped with the growth and brand awareness of the company”. – Ryan Evans.

In addition to this great achievement, MK Loft Boarding has also just received the award of ‘No.1 Insulation Contractor in Milton Keynes’ from the nationwide Quality Business Awards. MK Loft Boarding have also been involved with MK Dons and will continue their involvement in the  forthcoming season. Ryan and the team have made the effort to support and sponsor a number of communities in MK.

“This year we will be sponsoring the popular MK city fire works as they require help with funding to be able to put on the excellent display. For the 1st time, we are sponsoring the MK PRIDE festival which we hope will help promote small businesses to do the same. It is not often we see small trades companies promoting the LGBT community so we hope we can set a great example going forward and other local business can follow in foot”.

Ryan and MK Loft Boarding only intend to grow and expand, whilst still doing what they can to support the local community.
