TONIGHT AT 7PM: MP tells MKFM Conservatives are playing their part in tackling crime in Milton Keynes

Tune into MKFM at 7pm tonight to hear from Ben Everitt MP as part of our latest series of exclusive crime interviews.

Since MKFM's first Crime Week back in April, multiple new operations and schemes have been launched in a bid to tackle serious crime in the city.

MKFM Crime Week gives listeners and readers an opportunity to raise their concerns, ask questions, and receive updates from key figures within the city.

Now, this week, MKFM Crime Week is back and tonight at 7pm we speak to MP for Milton Keynes North, Ben Everitt.

Ben Everitt MP tells MKFM that he has been very pleased with the efficiency of the local police force's launch of Operation Deter.

"We have had a number of arrests, and in particular, the bit that I'm very pleased with is the efficiency. People are being arrested and put in custody, so they do spend time behind bars if they're caught with a knife and then they process through the court and are sentenced very quickly."

Operation Deter launched on 1st July in Milton Keynes and focusses on prosecution, intervention and prevention.

As well as discussing the new police operation, MKFM also asks the MP about the recent illegal encampment which led to a secondary school remaining closed for two days.

The MP tells MKFM that after finding out about the encampment on the Monday morning, he called the police who 'kicked into gear' and ran a 'very good operation.

He says he was left 'very satisfied' with the police response after he had been in contact with them and 'very pleased' that they "used the powers that the Conservative government had given them."

Listen tonight from 7pm on 95.0/102.1/106.3FM, DAB Digital Radio, online, on your mobile or smart speaker to hear the full interview with Ben Everitt MP.
