Saturday's Coronavirus Update: 75 new cases reported in Milton Keynes

There were 75 positive coronavirus cases recorded in Milton Keynes on Saturday, according to data from Public Health England.

It's an increase compared to Friday's number of 58 and takes the total number of positive cases to 2,863 since the pandemic began.

Nationally, 26,860 cases were recorded on Saturday and a further 462 deaths.

People are being admitted to Milton Keynes University Hospital for COVID-19 daily. Six people have sadly died in just over a week.

And the number of covid patients at the hospital has more than doubled in the past five days. As of Tuesday morning, 19 covid patients were being treated at the hospital. But on Thursday night, this number had increased to 47.

MKFM previously stopped reporting on coronavirus cases due to the lack of testing, and possible misrepresentation of cases within the community, but now that there are more tests available we have decided to provide frequent updates.

We provide the data given to us by Public Health England, and unfortunately this does not cover the number of people who have recovered/left hospital.
