Residents invited to have their say on E-scooter trials in Milton Keynes

The MP for Milton Keynes North has launched a survey on E-Scooters in Milton Keynes.

The MP for Milton Keynes North, Ben Everitt, has launched a survey to find out about residents' experiences with E-scooters in the city.

The trial was launched in 2020 by Milton Keynes Council, as part of a Department for Transport national scheme, working with LimeTier and Ginger.

Currently in the UK, it is illegal to use private e-scooters on public roads across England and rental e-scooters are only available through government trials in around 23 towns and cities across the country.

In Milton Keynes, the rented E-scooters are primarily used on the redway network.

The operators of the scooters have their own policies and restrict usage to over 18, but legally you need to be old enough to hold a current driving licence to use the scooters. This includes provisional licences from the age of 16.

The survey, launched by the local MP, is set to gather information on residents' experiences.

Ben Everitt MP said: "I am often contacted by residents in Milton Keynes about the ongoing e-scooter trials in the city."

"The current trials, led by the Department for Transport, were extended by Milton Keynes City Council until May 2024 and the Government has been consulting on legislation for e-scooters.

"I am keen to understand a full picture of residents' experiences with e-scooters in Milton Keynes so please let me know your views in the survey below."

The survey can be found here.
