Redway Runners support MKFM Food Bank campaign

Donations from the Redway Runners arriving at the MK Food Bank.

Community-minded running group, Redway Runners, worked in partnership with MKFM to organise a collection of tins and food at their last organised run of the year last weekend, before MK moved into Tier 4.

Due to the pandemic over the past year, there has been a huge increase in people using their local food bank. The food bank has gone from providing 1,000 tins per month to now over 1,000 per week due to the pandemic. With this in mind, MKFM launched a local campaign with an aim of collecting 70,000 tins of food for the MK Food Bank

As a community-minded running group, the Redway Runners worked in partnership with MKFM to organise a collection of tins and food at its last organised run of the year. Its socially-distanced ‘Redway Runners Daytona 5000’, at the Daytona Outdoor Go-Karting Track in Milton Keynes, saw over 100 participants run 5 laps around the track.

Runners were encouraged to bring a donation which would be taken to the MK Food Bank. As a result, 220 tins were donated along with other items such as dried food, pasta and drinks!

Redway Runners is an award-winning community running club based in Milton Keynes, built on having fun and getting fit in a friendly environment that welcomes all abilities. For further details email rr@redwayrunners.com or visit www.redwayrunners.com
