TRAVEL: Flooding causes M1 slip road closures and rail disruption north of Milton Keynes

Flooding has caused the closure of some slip roads at J15 on the M1 as well as rail disruption to passengers from Milton Keynes Central.

yellow weather warning is in force until 2am tonight with the Met Office telling residents to expect heavy rainfall leading to 'flooding and disruption to travel'.

Highways England say that the southbound exit slip and northbound entry slip roads on the M1 at J15 for Northampton are closed due to flooding from nearby fields running onto the carriageway.

The main motorway carriageway is currently unaffected by the floods.

Meanwhile, there is rail disruption north of Milton Keynes this afternoon as flooding affects the railway.

Network Rail say bad weather has led to flooding at the Crick Tunnel in Northampton.

Teams are on the scene and trying to pump away the flood water as quickly as possible.

It means there is disruption to London Northwestern Railway services from Milton Keynes which run via Northampton.

Avanti West Coast services are not affected as they do not use the Northampton branch line.

Rail services are able to pass the flooded location, but at reduced speeds.

Local roads in Milton Keynes have also seen disruption, with traffic struggling to pass a roundabout in Olney earlier this afternoon.

In addition, Milton Keynes Council have closed Little Linford Lane near Newport Pagnell due to the flooding.
