Yesterday, Friday 25th March, people from across Woughton and the rest of Milton Keynes walked to say thank you.

This week has marked two years since the very first national lockdown in England. Throughout the pandemic, NHS staff, blue light responders and many others put themselves in harms way, risking their lives to help keep people safe. Working under immense pressure, the staff and their families have been there, all day, every day.

Yesterday, in an event organised by Woughton Community Council, people walked to show their gratitude and their ongoing support for all that they do.

Councillor Brian Hepburn, who came up with the idea for the walk said: “We wanted to do something to show our thanks to all those who have been there through the recent pandemic. The NHS staff, alongside the police and fire service are the front line."

People from across MK, including councillors and the Mayor of MK, gathered with blue lights and glow sticks and lanterns and made the walk from the new Hub on Ashland (housing the police, fire and ambulance services) through to MK Hospital.

A moment of silence was also held to remember those who had lost their life in the pandemic.

West Ashland Fire Station said: "A big thank you to all those who came to show support for all the emergency services and the NHS last night. It was a great turn out in the end!

"A special thanks to Woughton Community Council for organising the event."
