Over 1,000 people sign petition to save The Point in Milton Keynes

The online petition called 'Save The Milton Keynes Point', which was launched just four days ago, has reached the 1,000 signature mark.

It currently has 1,119 signatures after being launched by local resident Christina Cragg.

Launching the petition, Christina posted: "Please save this vital part of Milton Keynes History. The Milton Keynes Point was not only the first multiplex cinema in the country but a groundbreaking piece of architecture on the city's skyline.

"The citizens of Milton Keynes have fond memories and would really like to see it restored to its former glory...SAVE OUR POINT!"

The Point first opened in 1985 and has been an iconic part of the Central Milton Keynes skyline ever since.

Planning permission has already been given for its demolition to take place, but no date has yet been set for when it will happen.
