Newport Pagnell Councillor to retire this May after nearly a decade

Longstanding Newport Pagnell Councillor, Paul Alexander, will be retiring in May.

Cllr Paul Alexander first represented Newport Pagnell North, and then Newport Pagnell South when the boundaries changed.

He said: “It has been an honour to represent the people of Newport Pagnell over the past 10 years. Being their councillor has been a privilege, and I will miss it greatly.”

“My friend Andy Carr will be standing in Newport Pagnell South. I know he will make an excellent representative for local residents, and I wish him the best.”

During his time on the Council, Cllr Paul Alexander has fought to make Milton Keynes more accessible for wheelchair and mobility scooter users.

In the Council’s 2020/21 budget, he managed to secure £100,000 to install dropped kerbs on pavements and revise cycle barriers on redways and footpaths.

Fellow ward Councillor Jane Carr said: “Councillor Alexander is not only a colleague but a dear friend. He has done brilliant work for Newport Pagnell, and for Milton Keynes. We’ll make sure to continue his work in our town.”
