New 'climbing centre meets theme park' requests permission to replace Giraffe Kingston

A planning application has been submitted for a new 'climbing centre meets theme park' at the Giraffe unit at the Kingston Centre in Milton Keynes.

The application to Milton Keynes Council for a change of use at the site and new mezzanine was submitted this week.

MKFM revealed in March that both Giraffe restaurants in Milton Keynes - at the Kingston Centre and The Centre MK - were scheduled to close.

Climb Quest describes itself as 'a leisure activity that provides convenient climbing opportunities for families'.

In the UK, there are over 30 sites and over 100 globally.

The target audience for Climb Quest are 5-11 year olds and parents who supervise or climb with their children. However, the activity is suitable for all ages over 5 and all abilities. The activity is also popular with groups such as corporates, youth groups and schools.

Deloitte, who have completed the planning application on behalf of the applicant, say that the change of use will not alter the existing access routes into the unit, including the dedicated servicing route located to the rear of the unit and accessed via Winchester Circle. No external alterations are proposed in the application.

The unit currently sits in a row of six restaurants, between Smash Burger and Prezzo.

A decision date for the application has not yet been set.
