MKFM calls for fairer petrol prices for Milton Keynes drivers

Price comparisons show that residents are paying 10p more per litre than other areas.

UPDATE - MPs fight for fairer petrol prices in Milton Keynes

Today (2/11), MKFM has contacted the MP for Milton Keynes North and the MP for Milton Keynes South to request that they write to the fuel companies who have forecourts across the city, to ask why drivers are consistently paying more for fuel than other areas.

Figures have shown that on average, petrol and diesel prices have been around 10p more than other areas.

Yesterday, prices at a BP petrol station in Richmond were 162.9p per litre for petrol.

MKFM can confirm that petrol this morning at the BP garage on the A421 near Emerson Valley is priced at 174.9.

Asda in Bletchley is believed to be the cheapest place to buy petrol in the city, with the price at 165.9 for unleaded - still more expensive than the London town.

The most expensive fuel in Milton Keynes sits at 197.8, at VS Service Station in Wolverton.

When comparing Milton Keynes fuel prices against bordering towns, the BP on London Road, Northampton comes out significantly cheaper than BP garages in Milton Keynes at 160.9p and Aylesbury has fuel priced at 159.9p.

MKFM has reached out to the local MPs asking them to confirm that they will write to the petrol companies.

MKFM is also waiting for a response from BP.
