Milton Keynes University Hospital begins the year 'tremendously busy'

Milton Keynes University Hospital has started the year 'tremendously busy', with its CEO taking to social media to thank staff for their hard work.

Milton Keynes University Hospital's CEO Professor Joe Harrison took to social media platform 'X' to thank staff and apologise for longer waits due to the hospital being 'tremendously busy' on New Year's Day.

At around 9:38am on 1st January 2024, the hospital's CEO said patients were waiting longer than liked due to the volume of very unwell people in the emergency department.

Residents were urged to contact CEO Joe Harrison with any questions and concerns.

Harrison wrote on X, formerly Twitter, saying: "We start the New Year with a tremendously busy hospital. My thanks go to all the staff at MK Hospital for their unstinting hard work. Despite significant efforts, patients are waiting longer than we’d like in our ED because of the volume of very unwell people we are seeing.

"I am very sorry if you or a loved one experience these longer waits. If you have questions or concerns about your experience, please do contact me Joe.harrison@mkuh.nhs.uk and thank you for your patience as we work hard to see everyone who needs us as quickly as we can."
