Tesco Extra in Bletchley had to close this morning (4/12), for the second time this week.

A Tesco spokesperson told MKFM: “We had to temporarily close our Bletchley Extra store due to a power issue this morning. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused to our customers and to any customers affected by online order cancellations.”

The closure this morning is related to the Western Power Distribution power cut that took place earlier in the week.

On Thursday 2nd December, several shops and a gym were forced to close due to a power cut.

Houses in the area were also affected.

Western Power Distribution said that the power cut was a High Voltage incident, these incidents tend to be larger, affecting the wider area. Around 140 houses were estimated to have been without power for a period of time.

It has been reported that the power cut came from a transformer owned by Western Power overheated, causing a very small fire.
