Shops and gym forced to close as power cut affects homes in Milton Keynes

    There has been a power cut this morning (02/12) which is currently affecting over 100 local properties and Tesco Supermarket in Bletchley has also been affected.

    Western Power Distribution has said that this is a High Voltage incident. These incidents tend to be larger, affecting the wider area and could mean that neighbours are off supply too.

    The postcodes affected are MK2 and 1 building in MK1.

    It has been estimated that 140 homes are without power. 

    A Tesco spokesperson said: “We’ve had to temporarily close our Bletchley Extra store due to a power outage in the area. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused to our customers.”

    A transformer owned by Western Power overheated causing a very small fire, The fire was not Tesco's premises.

    Pure Gym has also been affected.

    Some shoppers have reported Home Bargains, Aldi and several other stores also being out of power.
