Milton Keynes pub that was closed following drugs raid is on the hunt for new manager

A Milton Keynes-based pub that was at the centre of a drugs raid last year is now on the hunt for a new manager.

The New Inn in New Bradwell is a community pub known for its idyllic canal-side location.

But in December 2020, it was raided by Thames Valley Police resulting in drugs and a "substantial amount" of money being recovered. Officers also conducted swab tests which discovered "high levels" of drugs in various areas within the pub.

A month-long closure order was issued but the pub has been unable to reopen due to the national lockdown.

The pub's tenant, Boris Marcow, and the pub’s freehold owner, Bedford-based brewer Charles Wells, are keen to "sort the matters out" and the first step is funding the pub a new manager.

Once the manager is appointed, Boris Marcow plans to hold regular meetings and abide by a series of extra conditions placed on the pub’s license.

It will have to introduce CCTV and rigorous staff training, and a council committee has suggested a period of three months for the pub to be made ready for reopening once lockdown restrictions are eased.

The owners say The New Inn is set to "go back to how it was pre July 2020, a pleasant community pub.”

They aim to do this by finding a new manager, or management couple, to take over the day-to-day operation of the pub.

The New Inn published a job vacancy on their Facebook page on Sunday (14/2) stating they are looking for someone who is "personable, with an outgoing personality and an ability to communicate with both staff and customers."

It will be a live-in position, offering "spacious accommodation" above The New Inn itself. The new manager(s) will be responsible for controlling the busy pub business, and they must have "some appreciation of real ales and wines".

Those who are interested in starting their career with The New Inn should email their CV to info@newinnmiltonkeynes.co.uk.
