Milton Keynes hotel and wedding venue that 'permanently closed' last year has reopened under new management

A local hotel and wedding venue that closed permanently due to the impact of COVID-19 has been bought out and reopened under new management.

Chicheley Hall, located within the scenic village of Chicheley, announced its permanent closure in June 2020 following the "devastating impact" that the first COVID-19 lockdown had on the hospitality industry.

The previous owners thanked its loyal customers for their support over the years and said it was a "difficult decision" to close its doors.

However, it has been announced that Chicheley Hall, a Grade I listed 18th-century mansion, has been bought by a Hong Kong-based property company and will be reopening under new management.

The Bonds Group, which owns assets over $20 billion HKD, has purchased the scenic building and its 80-acre grounds to continue operating as a hotel and wedding venue.

It will be managed by Countrywide Hotels, a company that operates dozens of hotels across the UK.

The new owners say a key focus for the hotel will be "to engage with all aspects of the local community" providing a location for weddings and celebrations, alongside a meeting place for alfresco dining, afternoon tea, dinner and drinks in the hotel bar and restaurant.

Darren Patt, of Countrywide Hotels, said: "We are delighted to be taking over the management of Chicheley Hall hotel and reopening it as a hotel and luxury wedding venue. We cannot wait to welcome the local community back to enjoy this stunning hotel and gardens."

A spokesperson for The Bonds Group added: "We are excited to have taken over the ownership of this impressive venue, and look forward to working with Countrywide Hotels in investing in this beautiful hotel to make it accessible to the community and one of the best venues in Buckinghamshire."

Chicheley Hall has opened for business travellers today (22/3), and will be offering alfresco afternoon teas from 12th April - in line with the next stage of the Government's roadmap out of lockdown.

It will then reopen fully for leisure guests from 17th May in line with Government guidelines.
