Milton Keynes Hospital unveils brand new Veteran Aware Plaque

The plaque follows the news that the Trust has received Armed Forces Veterans Aware accreditation.

Today, (Thursday 17 August), staff from the hospital alongside those with a connection to the armed forces attended a small ceremony to officially unveil a new Veteran Aware plaque.

The new plaque follows the Trust’s award of the accreditation earlier in the year.

The unveiling of the Veteran Aware plaque in the main entrance of the hospital underpins the Trust’s work in identifying and sharing best practice across the NHS to support all those from the Armed Forces community.

The Armed Forces Veterans Aware accreditation – easily identified on publications and organisational websites by a purple tick – was awarded to MKUH in April 2023 and was followed by the Trust receiving the MoD Employer Recognition Gold Award in July.

Milton Keynes University Hospital's Armed Forces Staff Network helps to identify and bring together employees at the Trust with an armed forces link or an interest in supporting the local Armed Forces community.

The network, which is run by the hospital's Armed Forces Covenant Support Officer Johanna (JJ), provides a safe and familiar environment for members to reflect on their service days, remain informed about what’s going on locally for veterans, reservists and their families and find out what specialist support is available to those who serve, and have served.
