Milton Keynes Council to pay tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore

Milton Keynes Council will fly its flag at half mast tomorrow in memory of Tom Moore, who passed away today of COVID-19 aged 100.

Council Leader Cllr Peter Marland has said: “Captain Tom was an inspiration to so many people and it is right we mark his achievements in this way, and I’m sure people will want to take a bit of time to think of him and all those that have tragically lost their lives during the pandemic.”

Emily Darlington, Bletchley East Labour Councillor, commented: "Goodbye and thank you to Captain Sir Tom Moore. You were a symbol of hope and perseverance during this horrid pandemic. We will always remember your inspirational efforts for the NHS."

Bletchley Park Conservative Councillor Allan Rankine added: "An inspiration to all of us. Everything that is good about this country was found in Captain Tom. RIP."

Councillor Alex Walker, Leader of the Conservative Group, concluded: "Captain Tom was a true inspiration. He dragged the whole nation through the pandemic. He was a shining light in such a dark time.

"Flying our flag in MK at half mast is a small but important show of respect to his memory and his family."
