'Masks are muzzles': Protestors gather outside Milton Keynes Civic Offices

Dozens of mask-free protestors gathered outside Milton Keynes Civic Offices today with speeches being made by Piers Corbyn and former UKIP candidate Jeff Wyatt.

In June, Mr Corbyn and Mr Wyatt led a similar protest in Central Milton Keynes where they were campaigning for lockdown to end and for there to be no coronavirus vaccine, amongst other things.

Today's peaceful protest adopted a similar approach and Mr Wyatt, an active campaigner, criticised Milton Keynes Council for "controlling" residents. He also questioned the Government's accountability and accused people of being conned.

    Other topics were discussed including anti-new normal, anti-5G, anti-lockdown, anti-vaccine and anti-mask.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said that masks offer a "great deal of value" in controlling the spread of coronavirus, however, one protestor today held up a sign that read 'the mask is stupid'.

Leaflets were handed out to passers by, with one pamphlet claiming that wearing masks and social distancing "does nothing to protect people's health but does propagate a fear of contagion". It referred to coronavirus as "Covid19 bogey virus".

Currently, the use of face coverings is compulsory in most public settings with there being exceptions for children under the age of 11 and people with certain medical conditions.

The anti-mask leaflet claims that wearing a mask results in "unnecessary interference with our respiratory system" and encouraged people to "take back our rights".

It also blames the track and trace system, alongside a potential coronavirus vaccine, for potentially "microchipping" and "data harvesting".

Another leaflet claims to show proof that lockdowns are "stupid" by comparing a chart of the UK's death rate to Sweden's death rate. It says "The actual death rates in UK and Sweden are likely both proportionately LESS because the World Health Org told all countries to LIE to UP the rate."

It dubs the death rates a "hoax to destroy rights, jobs, freedom and control you".

During today's protest, people chanted 'freedom over fear' while protestors held banners that read 'Don't submit', 'Covid 19 = Control' and 'The Mask Is Stupid'. A lady wore a t-shirt that boasted the slogans 'no fake media, no mandatory vaccines'.
