Lorry driver helps police stop stolen car in Milton Keynes

A man has been arrested after stealing a vehicle and causing criminal damage to a traffic car.

Roads Policing Unit officers conducted a reinforced stop at the Old Stratford Roundabout, Milton Keynes.

The vehicle stopped was a Kia Sportage which was on false plates, stolen in London a couple of days ago.

The driver tried to ram his way out and drove into the side of the police car before being tasered.

The man was arrested for theft of the Kia, criminal damage to the traffic car and for failing to cooperate with a roadside drink/drug test.

Police say they also found a burgling kit with balaclava, gloves and tools which could have been used to commit more thefts.

A spokesperson for the Roads Policing Unit said: "Special mention to the lorry driver who pulled across to block off the Kia had it managed to ram through our stop. Much appreciated!"
