Local MP Ben Everitt is captaining a team taking part in the Race For Ukraine event at Daytona’s circuit in Central Milton Keynes later this week.
Ben, the MP for Milton Keynes North, will be joined by fellow Conservative MPs Iain Stewart (Milton Keynes South) and Greg Smith (Buckingham) for the two-hour charity endurance event.
His team of six will be completed by Cllr Shazna Muzammil (Tattenhoe ward), former Conservative group leader on MK Council Alex Walker, and Yuri Lysenko, representative for Ukraine's Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights in the UK.
The race will raise money for Siobhan’s Trust, a charity that has made a significant impact on the lives of those affected by conflicts and disasters.
Last year, Daytona CEO, Charles Graham, personally drove a trailer full of aid to Ukraine to support those affected by the ongoing conflict. This year, they are hosting the team endurance race to continue their efforts in supporting the Ukrainian people, and all profits from the race will be donated to Siobhan’s Trust.
Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, commented: “I’m extremely excited to be entering a team into the Race for Ukraine event and I’m delighted Iain and Greg have both agreed to join me and a few others on our local team!
“We will always stand alongside the people of Ukraine against Putin’s abhorrent war and I’m pleased we’re able to play this small part in helping raise funds to support the Ukrainian people.”
Daytona are also hosting a silent auction at the event, with exciting prizes donated by local businesses such as MK Dons and public figures such as Sam Ryder.
There will also be food, entertainment, and hospitality at the event, which starts at 2pm.
