Gulliver's Land, supermarkets and McDonald's among those closing in Milton Keynes for the Queen's funeral

    McDonald's has today joined the list of businesses closing its doors on the date of The Queen's funeral.

    In a statement released on social media, the fast food giant McDonald's has announced they will not be opening until 5pm on the day of Queen Elizabeth II's funeral. 

    "All of our UK restaurants will be closed on Monday until 5pm, to allow everyone at McDonald’s to pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

    "Operating hours and services may vary after 5pm, so please check our app before travelling."

    It comes as shops, restaurants and services across the country have announced they will be closing their doors to pay their respects to the Queen.

    Shops closing in Milton Keynes on Monday 19th September include:

    • John Lewis and Waitrose
    • Sainsbury's and Argos 
    • Aldi 
    • Lidl 
    • Tesco's large stores will be closed, express stores will open at 5pm
    • M&S.
    • Co-op stores will be closed until 5pm
    • Asda will reopen at 5pm.
    • Morrisons 
    • Iceland 
    • Home Bargains
    • B&Q
    • Homebase
    • Halfords

    A spokesperson for centre:mk has told MKFM that the closure of stores within the centre will be down to the individual retailers.

    Gulliver's Land is also among those closing its doors on Monday.

    Bin collections across Milton Keynes will also not be taking place on Monday.

    Milton Keynes tips are also set to remain closed until 2pm on the day, residents with bookings before this time will reportedly be contacted and asked to rebook.

    Milton Keynes University Hospital has said that they will continue to provide services but patients of some outpatient appointments may be contacted.

    Their statement said: "Milton Keynes University Hospital will continue to provide inpatient care, urgent and emergency care, urgent surgery (operations), urgent diagnostics (scans and tests), cancer clinics (oncology, haematology and chemotherapy), and some routine outpatient clinics.

    "Patients who have an Outpatient appointment on Monday 19 September will be contacted directly by telephone with information about whether the appointment is going ahead or being rescheduled."
