Get ready to make a splash at the 2023 Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival

Celebrating its 20th year, Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival is set to make waves in the city again!

Get ready to unleash your inner dragon at the 20th Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival! On Saturday 22nd July, NewWave Events is bringing back the fiercely contested festival to Milton Keynes, and it's going to be an event you won't want to miss.

Teams will take to the waters of Willen Lake, racing in brightly-coloured 30-foot dragon boats, each with a majestic dragon's head at the bow and a traditional drum to keep the beat with the rowers' strokes.

Prepare to be entertained with a variety of activities, such as live music, a funfair, a flypast, and an exciting addition of a traditional Chinese Lion Dance!

But the excitement doesn't stop there. To wet your appetite for the big day, a dragon boat will be on display at Centre:MK shopping centre on Saturday 29th April from 9am to 5pm. Come and get up close to the action, and find out more about this adrenaline-fueled festival.

This year, the festival is open again for teams to fundraise for a charity of their choice, and with the support of MK Charities, who are on a mission to help as many charities as possible in the Milton Keynes community, the sky's the limit.

Alicja Mierzejewska, Executive Director of NewWave Events, is thrilled to announce that: “Over 15 teams have already signed up for this year, following a great turnout in 2022, where 44 teams raised over £39,000 for various MK charities. We look forward to seeing you all again!”

So, what are you waiting for? Get your team together, and get ready to make a splash at the 20th Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival on 22nd July. And if you can't wait until then, come and catch up with us on 29th April at Centre:MK, and take a photo with the dragon boat. The 2023 Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival will take place on Saturday 22nd July at Willen Lake, Milton Keynes. Let's make some waves!
