Fire service issues update on Milton Keynes field fire

    Fire crews were called to a field fire in Milton Keynes yesterday evening (28/7).

    At around 6:46 PM on Thursday 28 July, 2022, fire crews from Aylesbury, West Ashland, Buckingham and Bedfordshire were called to a field fire in Wolverton.

    Five fire engines were at the scene along with Thames Valley Police.

    When crews arrived, the field fire was around 100m x 50m in size.

    A spokesperson for Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue say three hose reel jets, beaters, water backpacks and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire firefighters.

    At around 10:27 PM, crews went back to the area for a re-inspection where they managed to detect hotspots.

    Firefighters then used one hose reel jet and thermal imaging camera to dampen down and make the area safe.

    A further re-inspection then took place around 01:59 where the area was cool and no further inspection required.

    It has not yet been confirmed how the fire started.
