Employees who are working during the pandemic and have concerns about workplace safety are encouraged to contact Milton Keynes Council.

The local authority visits over 150 businesses per week to ensure that they are COVID-compliant, issuing fines and guidance to those that are not.

Last week, Milton Keynes Council fined a nail bar that was operating despite the national lockdown restrictions.

And yesterday (12/2) Cllr Pete Marland, the Council Leader, highlighted how those who are concerned about workplace safety can make an anonymous tip-off.

He said, during the weekly update: "It might be that some workplaces need to put more COVID prevention measures in place for people who can't work from home. These can be measures such as staggering start and finish times, or making sure employees isolate if they have to.

"We contact and offer help to employers so they can get it right, and most do. However, if you have concerns about where you work, you can tell us confidentially at covidconcern@milton-keynes.gov.uk."

In the video message, Cllr Marland added that Milton Keynes Council's analysis of the latest data suggests that the infection rate among working-age people, particularly men, is coming down "more slowly" than the rest of the population.

He highlighted how people should work from home if possible, but otherwise wear a mask and follow all coronavirus prevention measures.

Those who are frontline key workers, including shop staff and firefighters, can receive free rapid asymptomatic coronavirus tests at the Milton Keynes Library. These tests do not need to be booked and results are sent to your mobile in less than an hour.
