Christmas display in Milton Keynes to become backdrop to 100+ sensory decorations

centre:mk’s Christmas decorations in Middleton Hall, will this week become the dazzling backdrop to over 100 sensory decorations, crafted by visually impaired children from all over the country.

The decorations, which will go on display from Thursday (23rd November), have been created as part of a competition run by the charity VICTA – a Milton Keynes based charity supporting blind and partially sighted children.

Children with visual impairments have handmade the special decorations that delight all the senses and can be enjoyed by everyone, no matter their level of sight.

All children entering a decoration will receive a treat from the charity with a lucky few winning some very special prizes! Guests at the shopping centre can read a full description around each decoration, by scanning the QR code next to the display or visiting the charity’s website.

The initiative, hosted by centre:mk, is part of a range of charitable activations the shopping centre is running over Christmas, including - fundraising and support for Harry’s Rainbow, an invaluable charity providing a lifeline for children experiencing the loss of a sibling or parent, as well as centre:mk’s ‘Giving Tree’, positioned in Guest Services, allowing customers to buy Christmas presents for children living in refuge, in conjunction with charity KidsOut, - many of which have escaped domestic violence.

Kevin Duffy, centre director commented on the decorations: “We are deeply privileged to be working with VICTA to display these wonderful decorations that the children have made, not only is this a fantastic opportunity for the charity to raise awareness of the important work they do, but it also adds a little extra sparkle for all our guests who are visiting the wonderful Grotto this year in Middleton Hall.”

The decorations, which will be fitted to the unlit trees (facing into the archway by the train), are available to view until 6th January.
