Can you help find the much-loved VW Beetle parked up somewhere in Milton Keynes?

A man from Kent has embarked on an exhaust-ing search for a beloved family car, originally bought by his dad back in 1973.

Marc Bleach is hoping the Milton Keynes community can track down the VW Beetle, which is believed to be somewhere in the new city.

“I knew of the car from family members and photos,” he told MKFM, “But it was only when my uncle came over from Australia and we started talking that he rattled off the registration number. I was gobsmacked he remembered it,” Marc said.

Armed with the new information, Marc got into gear and began searching in earnest - and unbelievably, he came across an old 'For Sale' ad from 2008.

“It looked like what used to be a gold 1303 VW Beetle, but was now pink. I contacted the details on the advert and spoke with a very confused previous owner, who agreed to talk with me and confirmed the registration - it used to be my dad’s car!”

The owner recalled selling it to someone here in the new city, who possibly lived in the Lakes Estate area.

“He also confirmed that he never registered the car in his name, which is why the DVLA records show no updates since 1991, but they do know it is pink now, for some reason!” Marc said, “We can’t quite work that out because in 1991 it was still definitely gold!”

Marc’s father, who sadly passed away in 2007 aged just 51, always had a passion for VWs which has been passed on to his family who all still drive them today.

He might not know where the car currently is, but Marc does know how it came to be in the family: “Back when my dad was going out with my mum, one day they pulled into a petrol garage in Westerham, in Kent which was also a VW dealership, Wolfe Garage.

“In the showroom was this beautiful gold Beetle 1303 which my mum fell in love with. Apparently, my dad didn’t say much, but a few weeks later he picked my mum up in the very car - the first and only car he bought brand new! The beetle was his pride and joy up until 1977 when my mum was pregnant with me so dad traded it in for a blue VW Variant 412.”

Marc has been using social media to try to reunite with the much-loved motor.

“The people of MK are really getting behind me and trying their hardest to help find it, even though I’m all the way down in Kent!" he told us, "People are so lovely and we've had some good info so I’m getting so excited now to find it!

"We believe it’s still off the road and unfinished it may have changed colour again too. We aren’t sure!”

    > Do you own the car in question, or know where it s?

The registration plate is  RYT 444L
