It has been confirmed that the Milton Keynes Byron Burger restaurant is one of nine that has closed with immediate effect.

On Thursday, MKFM reported that burger chain Byron Burgers was set to close half of its restaurants as part of a pre-pack administration engineered by Calveton, its owner.

Calveton took over the chain in 2020, after it collapsed at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It has now been confirmed that the Milton Keynes restaurant is one of nine closing immediately.

The chain had 21 sites across the UK, 12 which have been saved with a deal that has saved around 365 jobs.

It has been reported that remaining restaurants and staff will be transferred to a new company through a pre-pack administration.

Claire Winder, managing director at Interpath Advisory who acted as a joint administrator on the deal, said: "Like many other companies across the hospitality sector, Byron had seen a boost in trading following the end of the Covid lockdown measures"

She told the BBC that 'sky-high' inflation saw its customers reduce spending.

    Stores closing include:

    • Milton Keynes
    • Bluewater
    • Chelmsford
    • Edinburgh Lothian Road
    • Leeds
    • London - Wembley
    • Manchester
    • Salisbury
    • Southampton
