Part of V4 Watling Street re-opens after long closure - but here's why some people still aren't happy

Part of the V4 Watling Street in Milton Keynes has re-opened today following a long closure.

A section of the road has re-opened at the junction with the H3 Monks Way/Calverton Lane site (near Fairfields).

But some people have taken to social media already to complain about one aspect of the new road layout.

Some residents aren't happy that traffic lights have been fitted on the road.

One commented: "It's so sad to see pedestrian crossings conflicting with traffic on grid roads."

Another added: "Traffic lights? Are you for real?"

However, some people said that the traffic lights would be a good addition to the new road.

One person said: "It does slow traffic down and they’re good for pedestrians and casual cyclists, which is more important in my opinion."

Council officials have said the rest of the road at the underpass site linking Two Mile Ash and Whitehouse is expected to re-open to traffic very soon.
