All the stops on the new Oxford-MK rail line - and what you can do at each place

    With the preparatory work beginning in Bletchley, where will you be able to go on the Oxford to Milton Keynes railway line?

    The new line is set to re-establish links between East Anglia, Central, Southern and Western England with Milton Keynes at the centre.

    It will be opening in 2025 - so hopefully lockdown will be over before then and you will be allowed to visit all these places!

    WINSLOW 

    The first stop outside of Milton Keynes is the market town of Winslow.

    A weekly market is held every Wednesday in the Market Square in the centre of town between 9am to 2pm.

    The market has a traditional, middle England feel to it, with tasty treats available every week.

    In addition to a weekly market, a farmers market comes to the town on the first Sunday of every month between 10am to 1.30pm.

    An ideal opportunity to use the train for some specialist food shopping. 

    AYLESBURY

    Home to some great places to walk and see, Aylesbury can be great place for family days out.

    From the beautiful views from Coombe Hill to the fascinating Waddesdon Manor, there are plenty of choices.

    There is also the Buckinghamshire Train Museum, a great visit for any train enthusiast young or old.

    Those looking for a designer bargain will be pleased to know that Bicester Village will be on the new line.

    The village is home to many outlet stores from; Pandora, Fendi, Gucci and many more.

    The shopping area is extremely popular and parking can be difficult so soon the residents of Milton Keynes can catch the train.

    Oxford's Botanical Gardens and the river Cherwell

    At the end of the line, we have the famous city of Oxford.

    Home to the world renowned University of Oxford, a tour of the campus is an essential on a day out to the city.

    The campus tours include buildings from the Harry Potter movies, perfect viewing for any fans of the films.

    Oxford is also home to the oldest Botanical gardens in the UK, an opportunity for a moment of tranquility in a busy city.

    Blenheim Palace is another must see in Oxford, home to birth place of former Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

    And for those who love a boat trip, a river cruise down the Thames or the Cherwell is the place to see some of Oxford's best sights.
