The A5 between Towcester (A43) and Old Stratford (A508) was closed this morning (25/5) due to a nearby fire at an aquatic centre.

UPDATE: The A5 has reopened in both directions (10:42am 25/5).

Fire crews from Northants Fire were called to Hobby Fish, down Towcester Road, as a serious fire started in the early hours of this morning. Crews are expected to remain on site throughout the morning.

Wrigglies, the adjoining reptile store, has stated that they will remain closed today as the incident has left the site "very unsafe". They also stated that all animals in the store have been evacuated.

They were called at 0350 & six appliances are on scene from Northampton, Corby & Thames Valley. Large quantities of smoke are drifting across the A5 & residents are asked to keep windows closed for next few hours."
