Help to name the Thames Valley Air Ambulance Bear
Submit your nomination to name the bear for your chance to win a £100 Build-a-bear Workshop gift card, a Thames Valley Air Ambulance Bear and other great goodies!
Thames Valley Air Ambulance is a charity at the frontline of saving lives. They provide emergency medical care by air and land to patients in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. Their critical care paramedics and doctors are highly trained and ready for any eventuality. They bring the hospital to the patient, giving you the best chance when the worst happens.
Thames Valley Air Ambulance Teddy Bear
Due to the types of calls the charity attends, many of their patients are critically ill or injured. In both their helicopter and critical care response cars, they carry teddy bears which are given to children at the scene of an emergency. The teddy bears are used to comfort or distract children from what is often a traumatic experience.
Ten year old Lucy was given one of the teddy bears after she suffered a traumatic chest injury last New Year’s Eve. Lucy has bravely shared her story as part of the charity’s Christmas appeal; lending her own voice to an illustrated film as she retells the events of the night and how the charity saved her life. You can find out more about Lucy’s story by watching the video at the bottom of this article.
