Sainsbury's, Co-Op, Asda and Waitrose issue food recalls due to possible salmonella

Several top UK retailers have recalled chilled and frozen seafood products due to a possible risk of them being contaminated.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has put out a statement today (23/01) detailing the specific seafood products that could have potentially been exposed to salmonella.

Customers are advised to either return or throw away any seafood from the list at the bottom of this page. The best-before dates of food affected ranges anywhere from December 2020 all the way up to the end of January 2022.

The FSA offered details about product recalls and withdrawals, as they said: “If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product).

“If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.”

The symptoms caused by salmonella usually inclusive a fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps/pains. If you think you may have salmonella, you should immediately consult a doctor.
