Parent grieving the loss of a child arranges Ministry of Sound event to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital

A local parent that is grieving the loss of his child has arranged a world-class Ministry of Sound event to raise money for GOSH. Michael Goodridge told MKFM...

Every parent knows that one day they will pass away, and their children have to go through the emotional process of having to bury their mother or father - but a parent's biggest fear is the day they have to bury their child!

Unfortunately, this nightmare came true for me.

Eight years ago, my son (Lorenzo-Louis) passed away due to hospital negligence. The loss of my son smashed my heart into pieces; I never thought I could love so hard and feel the worst pain of my life at the same time.

I have had feelings of being numb and empty inside for years. Searching for ways to restore my feelings and the person I was before my son passed away - I couldn't and didn't know-how.

One day I realised that there was nothing that I could do to change my story, but I might be able to help other people with their stories. The first thing I did was start an Instagram page (Resting Angels EHM) and asked people that had been through a loss of a child in their family to inbox me their experience. I explained that I would post their story on my page with a promise - that each person or couple that shared their experiences would remain anonymous.

As time went on, I just wanted to do as much as I could in his memory, so on the 8th of August 2020, I held an event in Milton Keynes Park to celebrate Lorenzo-Louis. It was a free community event, where I gave away free food and provided DJ's and artists for entertainment - we had a beautiful day and a great turnout.

After the success of the event, I wanted to find other ways of continuing the awareness.

In September 2020, I contacted the Ministry Of Sound with my idea of putting on an event to raise money from ticket sales to donate to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and SANDS, as well as approaching some mainstream artists for the event of a lifetime.

The Eden and Harmony Music event will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, 27th of December 2021.
