MKFM Review: The Bodyguard at Milton Keynes Theatre

Mrs. D what's to see? Mrs. D was back at MK Theatre last night to watch The Bodyguard and here is her review...

It started with a bang! Literally, with a bang that made everyone jump. From that moment on you could hear a pin drop. We were asked not to sing along to any of the songs, which was really hard to do, but meant we could all enjoy the truly amazing voices of Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton and Emily-Mae who played Rachel Marron (Whitney Houston’s role) and Nicki Marron.

The story closely followed the film that we have all seen many times, although all I want to do now is watch it again, where the Bodyguard Frank Farmer, played by Ayden Callaghan was brought in to protect superstar Rachel Marron and her son Fletcher from a stalker. Adyen’s performance of Frank was fantastic and reminded me very much of Kevin Costner.

They took us on a journey with darkness, happiness, and romance; a truly great performance from all including Kaylenn Aires Fonseca as Fletcher who was a complete natural on the stage.

The set and production were second to none, one of the best productions I have seen, and I have now seen a few.

We were treated to so many amazing songs including Queen of the Night, I have nothing, Run to you, one moment in time as so many more. We all got the chance to join in at the finale which was a relief to all of us that love a good Whitney sing along.

This is a show not to be missed, you will not be disappointed. I may even go and see it again.

You have until the 3rd of June to be amazed.
