MKFM Review: Hair Host

A member of the MKFM team was invited down to Hair Host at The Hub for a wash, cut and blow dry, here is her full review...

Hair Host is a brand new independent salon that opened in the heart of the Hub in Central Milton Keynes.

With the huge success of the first Hair Host salon in Buckingham, they have now been able to expand to Milton Keynes, and I am super grateful for it.

Hair Host has an abundance of services, pretty much everything you need in one salon! From women's and men's cuts, blow drys, highlights, balayage, colour correction, and more.

Hair Host also provides children's cuts, bridal or special function hair up's and wonderful discounts such as 25% for senior citizens on Wednesdays, blue light card holders can have 20% off every day, and students can also enjoy 10% off every day too.

I was invited down to Hair Host and I was treated to a wash, cut, and blow dry! I was initially thinking that the universe is definitely making a point and having a laugh at me because it's no lie that I was very much in need of this, divine timing as they say.

I live in Central Milton Keynes, so I instantly favoured this location. It's so convenient for anyone living directly in The Hub, or anywhere else up Central Milton Keynes for that matter. I could imagine how great this would also be for central workers, the perfect place to pop into after work for a fresh cut.

You can see the brightly lit salon with the 'Hair Host' sign outside, it can't be missed and is easy to spot, which is great for an individual like me... who tends to get lost far too easily, even in their own hometown.

I was instantly captured by the design and decor, the salon is stylish and sleek, very lovely with a cosy and comfortable feel. I was welcomed warmly with smiles and directed to a salon chair by Lauren. I was offered an array of hot and cold drinks, and as it's rather chilly! I went for a nice hot chocco.

Lauren introduced herself and made sure I was nice and comfortable, and then had a discussion with me about my hair to see if there was anything specific I was looking cut-wise to have done to my hair. I asked for my split ends to be removed as they were getting pretty shocking to look at, and, also for what is known as a 'wolfie' type cut, I did have to an extent initially but it was all grown out and needed a general revamp.

Lauren was fabulous, she knew exactly what I was asking for and explained what she was going to do, always making sure I was happy with it.

Firstly, Lauren washed my hair which so relaxing that I could have fallen asleep. I always wish that we could wash our own hair as they do. Lauren and I had a great conversation, she gave me lots of hair-washing tips as I expressed to her my struggles with an oily scalp and occasional dandruff.

My hair was washed with products that smelt fantastic! I was then taken back to the salon chair so that Lauren could start the revamp. So very exciting.

The majority of the time we were talking and having a good laugh, I said to Lauren that I have never felt this comfortable in a salon before. I actually feel rather anxious when going to salons as quite honestly, not all feel so welcoming and can come across as judgemental. But with Hair Host, It was completely different, everyone was lovely and it was so refreshing.

That refreshing that I have booked a balayage in the New Year, New Year new hair! I can't wait.

Lauren cut all my split ends off which will promote more growth, as this is my current goal, and she cut in some layers. I could already see the difference and how much healthier it looked.

Lauren finished off my hair with a blow dry, which I also find very relaxing. I love being able to see the changes that really come through when the hair becomes dryer and to give my hair that last bit of pizazz, Lauren added some wavy curls in.

All products used throughout the process smelt amazing and are sulphate free.

You know that feeling you get when you have had your hair done and it feels new, light, airy and downright beautiful!? That's exactly how I felt.

My feels revived, alive and wonderful. Thank you so much Lauren!

Thank you to Hair Host for allowing me to experience a wash cut and blow dry in your lovely new salon in The Hub.

I highly recommend Hair Host to anyone who is looking for a salon that comes with no judgment, just a warm environment and a great friendly team.
