MKFM REVIEW: Aladdin at Milton Keynes Theatre

The MKFM team were invited to see Aladdin at Milton Keynes Theatre, running until Saturday 19th May and here is our review…

With Aladdin’s arrival in Milton Keynes you will experience an Arabian night you will never forget. In short, its brilliant and the best family show I’ve personally witnessed inside our beloved MK Theatre.

What a show, what a cast and the production values are on a West End and Broadway level. I do not jest, it’s that good.

Most of us are all familiar with Aladdin’s well-known tale, but this amazing homage to the time old classic has undergone a millennium make over with special effects, superb sound system, stunning lights and a live orchestra.

Add the incredible performances, exotic sets, gorgeous costumes and classic Disney musical numbers, Aladdin will enlighten and entertain you in a way you never thought possible inside a theatre.

As I mentioned the entire cast were excellent, there was real zest, joy and an excited raw energy to their performances.  Not just the main characters, the chorus and dancers choreography was spot on and collectively ensured Aladdin isn’t just a show but a spectacle.

There were some stand out performances; the Genie of the lamp, Yeukayi Ushe lifted the room every time he graced the stage as did Desomonda Cathabel who brought tangible sincerity to Jasmine and not forgetting Aladdin played superbly by Gavin Adams throughout the show.

The songs featured were top quality and what you would expect from the vaults of Disney’s classic musical archive, the best being a beautifully sang and staged A Whole New World that has to be seen to be believed.

If you just see one show this year, make sure it’s Aladdin.
