Milton Keynes Council deploy gritting teams as temperatures continue to drop

As the Met Office report that temperatures in Milton Keynes could drop as low as -4 ° towards the end of the week, the council is pre-emptively gritting road surfaces around the local area.

On Twitter, the council said: “Very low road surface temperatures continue for MK down to minus 7 degrees so the gritters will be out again from 1pm today. Take extra care if out and about as there will be black ice in places.”

The Met Office has reported a yellow weather warning for snow and ice across many parts of the UK – including Milton Keynes. While heavy snow is not to be expected in the area, temperatures will start to fall in the coming days.

Ringway MK, the council’s gritting agency, reassured drivers that they were doing everything they could to make driving conditions as safe as possible. They tweeted: “As temps remain low our gritting teams will be out from 1pm today and again at 1am tomorrow morning.

“We are expecting road surface temps as low as -7.3 deg c with black ice and frost predicted. Please drive to the conditions.”
