Milton Keynes Breakers face double-header weekend

MK Breakers will face one of their toughest tests of their NBL Division 2 campaign this Saturday as they welcome Team Solent Kestrels to Bletchley Leisure Centre.

The following evening Chelmsford Charge make the trip to Milton Keynes for Breakers season debut in the National Cup

Team Solent Kestrels kick started their NBL Division 2 season with an impressive 108-70 victory over NASSA. Breakers, meanwhile, were 107-73 winners over Richmond Knights in their NBL Division 2 opener last weekend.

Team Solent’s Isa Brandon is one to watch, he was impressive on his Kestrels debut as he put up 21 points, with Matt Hughes and Russ Gariepy scoring 17 and 16 points respectively.

MK Breakers Point Guard Andre Arissol played down in Southampton for two-years of his career and says he’s excited to face up against Solent Kestrels.

“This weekend is a huge one for us – being able to prove to ourselves that we are growing and really learning from each game. Solent is the perfect test once again - they are a well-structured and passionate club.

“Southampton was my home for 2 years coming out of America and I have nothing but love and respect for everyone involved, I’m just excited to see old faces and really play some high-level basketball! Roll on the weekend!”

Solent Kestrels have always been a tough outfit and have previously been one of the most dominant teams in the NBL, with Breakers very own Andre Arrisol featuring for Kestrels for two years of his career.

Attention then turns to Sunday’s clash with Chelmsford Charge in the Second Round of the National Cup. Breakers reached the Semi-Final of the same competition last year, before being eliminated by eventual winners Hemel Storm 98-93.

Chelmsford Charge defeated Northampton Mavericks 70-62 in the opening round of the National Cup to set up a second-round matchup with the Breakers. The NBL 3 side are off to strong start to the season with two wins from two under their belt.
