MK Breakers Men’s team made the long trip to Worthing on Sunday, looking to build on last week’s win over Bristol Flyers but aware that their opponents sat top of the BCB table.
The Bears had made an impressive start to the 2025/26 campaign, but Breakers were the ones who forced the pace early at the Worthing Leisure Centre, jumping out to a 6-0 lead and never letting up.
As they have done so many times in the past, it was our veterans who stepped up and delivered big performances. Blayne Freckleton stepped off the bench and didn’t miss a shot on his way to a 13-point, 4 rebound, 4 assist display, while Luke Gregory grabbed eight rebounds and was a major factor in Breakers dominating the battle on the boards.
Joining him was Mike New Jr, who weighed in with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Jordan Spencer – 7 points, 7 rebounds, 13 assists – orchestrated the offence to deliver a big win.
When the final buzzer sounded, Breakers would be on the right side of a 64-98 scoreline, much to the delight of Head Coach Ben Stanley who praised the efforts of his team.
“That was another good performance,” he said. “We knew this would be a tough away trip, so it’s pleasing to see our guys stay focussed and execute the gameplan. I’m especially pleased that we put so much effort into rebounding, which was always going to be a decisive factor.”
Next Saturday sees Breakers return to Bletchley Leisure Centre for their last game of 2025, taking on Derby Trailblazers. Tip off is at 17:00 and tickets are available here.
