Young people from Milton Keynes create movies about WW2 for Remembrance Sunday

Earlier this year, a group of local young people produced movies about WW2 which were premiered yesterday (8/11) as part of Remembrance Sunday activities.

The films, which were commissioned by Campbell Park Parish Council, were produced through Junior Filmmakers.

They included a short film, a poem about World War Two, and an interview with 96-year-old World War Two Veteran Leonard Granger.

The films were produced during a film camp held during the February Half Term and were due to be premiered on VE Day in May at the Milton Keynes Gallery but had to be cancelled due to COVID-19.

The premiere was then rescheduled to coincide with Remembrance Sunday.

It was attended, via Zoom, by the Mayor of Milton Keynes, parish councillors, army veterans, and the filmmakers and their families.

Cllr Terry Baines, Chairman of Campbell Park Parish Council and Armed Forces Champion, said that the movies shared a "powerful message" and made reservists, veterans, and the mayor shed a tear.
