YMCA to be Meet of MK chosen charity

Homelessness organisation the focus of business community meeting.

The only local charity dedicated to supporting young people who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness in Milton Keynes will form the spotlight of this month’s Meet of MK networking event.

YMCA Milton Keynes is the chosen charity of February’s monthly business gathering and becomes the latest locally based organisation to benefit from MKFM’s monthly Meet of MK.

As well as bringing the city’s business community together for food, drink and discussion, the evening event gives even more back to the city and its people – especially charities – by raising awareness and funds for local good causes.

YMCA offers a wide range of services that help young people belong, contribute and thrive. They do this by focusing on four key areas: support, engagement, development and inspiration, to help young people to reach their potential.

Among the highlights of their help are:

    • Homes for Young People
    • Employment Support
    • Support and Advice
    • Youth and Community Activities

Since 1981, the charity has supported more than 10,000 young people in Milton Keynes. Their state-of-the-art campus and move-on accommodation provide homes for up to 284 young adults.

Income from their social enterprises – the HomeGround café and their conferencing facilities – helps fund vital support and strengthens their presence in the Milton Keynes community.

“YMCA Milton Keynes offers more than just a physical home,” says Simon Green, CEO of YMCA Milton Keynes.

“We focus on emotional wellbeing and ensure that the young people that come to us can access a wide range of mental health support to meet their needs.

MKFM’s ‘The Meet of MK’ gathers every month at an exciting Milton Keynes venue. This month’s event is on Thursday 26th February at Blossom Room, The Hub. For more details or to book tickets, visit: www.mkfm.com/events/mkfms-meet-of-mk.
