This winter, YMCA Milton Keynes will be opening its doors to welcome residents and offer a warm space.

YMCA ‘Warm Space’ offers people a place to go for free to enjoy a safe, comfortable and friendly environment.

Staff and volunteers will be working on the front line to make this winter much easier for residents in the city.

In 2020, amidst the global pandemic, YMCA opened its £18.5 million building to house 242 young people at risk of homelessness. The charity delivers a 'holistic, person-centred approach' when working with every resident, whilst offering therapeutic and physical activities to improve skills and confidence.

This bespoke youth work is not limited to the YMCA campus. Building on the success of The Hospital Navigator Scheme, YMCA MK is now expanding to reach vulnerable people across the local community.

Supporting people in times of need is at the core of what we do, so inviting people in from the cold to make the most of our new building, is a great way to kick off our community development plans.

People using the Warm Space can expect a cosy and comfortable environment, hot drinks, board games and great conversation.

Opening on the 13th December, residents can visit YMCA in Milton Keynes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10am-3pm.

Residents can support YMCA MK this winter by volunteering as a ‘Warm Space Welcomer’, you can find out more here or contact tayler.tookey@mkymca.com.

Last month, Milton Keynes City Council announced it was launching ‘warm places’ this winter. £180,000 has been given to parish councils across the city to allow them to offer ‘warm places’ for residents during the winter months.
