Yellow weather warning for THUNDERSTORMS on Friday in Milton Keynes

The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in Milton Keynes on Friday afternoon.

The warning covering our city is in place from 2pm to Midnight, and also affects a number of other areas in East Anglia and the South East.

Forecasters say that most places will be dry but there is the potential for slow-moving thundery downpours in places.

Releasing the warning, forecasters have said: "There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater. Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train, bus and tube services, particularly during the evening rush hour."

"Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions with the possibility of road closures. There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost."

Temperatures are expected to remain warm, with highs of 24 degrees expected for Friday.

Saturday and Sunday will see a return to the hot weather, with sunshine and highs of 25 degrees in Milton Keynes.
