Council Leader Pete Marland broke the ground at the Whitehouse Health Centre yesterday, signalling the start of building work.
Opening in spring 2020, the new health centre will serve residents in the Western Expansion Area and provide additional capacity for neighbouring estates.
MK Council has invested £10m in the centre, as it is committed to essential infrastructure being built early as MK grows, so residents have the right facilities in place.
As well as regular consulting and treatment rooms, the centre will have facilities for minor surgery alongside a pharmacy, multi-purpose health education space and a café for visitors and patients.
It will be operated by a practice to be appointed by the Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group and leased to local NHS partners by MK Council.
Council Leader Pete Marland said: “I’m delighted to mark the start of construction work today. This state-of-the-art health centre will be much valued by the local community and should be a flexible and useful space for NHS partners to work from.”
