Willen Hospice announces new date for MK Midnight Moo 2020

Willen Hospice is delighted to announce that their popular MK Midnight Moo, and new Moo Night Run, will now take place on Saturday 12 September 2020.

The move comes in response to the government’s requirements to encourage social distancing by postponing mass participation events.

The Midnight Moo, which is sponsored by Specsavers MK, is the Hospice’ most important fundraiser of the year. The unprecedented Covid-19 outbreak means the charity will face a significant shortfall in income over the summer months, so support from the local community has never been more critical.

Both men and women can take part in this year’s event, and can choose from a 10-mile route, which starts and ends at intu MK, or the shorter 6.5 mile ‘Half-Moo’, which finishes at The Webber Independent School in Stantonbury. Walkers are invited to join in the 1920s theme, donning their feather boas or flat caps!

The new Moo Night Run follows the same 10-mile route as the MK Midnight Moo. Runners can soak up the atmospheres at intuMK, before warming up and heading out into the night, just ahead of the walkers. Head torches are essential to take part.

Tracey Jago, Events Manager, said: “We are so pleased to have a new date for the Moo and I’d like to thank our event sponsors, supporters and stakeholders who have been so willing to work with us to rearrange it. It’s one of our most popular events, and our biggest fundraiser. It would mean so much to have people join us on the night to show their support and celebrate the amazing community spirit that has really come to the fore in recent weeks.”

Unfortunately, the charity has taken the tough decision to cancel their MK Midday Moo, which was due to take place in June.  The movement of a number of other local events to the autumn means it has not been possible to secure a viable date. All those who were considering the event are being invited to join the MK Midnight Moo.

Willen Hospice needs to raise £4.7million every year, that’s £9 a minute. By taking part in events like the MK Midnight Moo or Moo Night Run, the Hospice can continue caring for patients with life-limiting illnesses, and at the end of their lives.
