Will you do 20 in 20?

Milton Keynes Council and its sports and leisure partners are launching a year-long challenge to do ’20 in 20’ in celebration of Milton Keynes being named European City of Sport for 2020, and promoting the fun and enjoyment of being physically active.

Milton Keynes Council are inviting everyone – individuals of all ages and abilities, families, friendship groups, schools, businesses, clubs and organisations - to pledge to be more active or to make it easier for others to be active.

20 January 2020 is the day to make your #MK20in20 pledge.  Download the pledge poster (PDF, 424KB) and share your pledge on social media using #MK20in20.

It could be to do 20 minutes of physical activity three times each week, swim 20 lengths, take part in 20 park runs, a 20 minute kick about, or walk around 20 places that you’ve never visited before.

Local clubs and groups are hoping to support new people to join activities or to help behind the scenes – and many will be offering discounts and open days.

Cllr Jenny Marklew, Cabinet Member for Sport and Leisure said:  “We want to inspire everyone, however much exercise or sport they’re doing now, to find a 20 in 20 pledge that works for them. We want to involve more local people in sport and other healthy activities, and to share how they feel as a result.

“My 20 in 20 pledge will be to get 20 other people to make their own pledges to be more active this year.” she added.

Previous European Cities of Sport are Coventry and Stoke-on-Trent, Bristol, Cardiff, Florence, Nice and Bilbao. The title is awarded by ACES Europe, a non-profit association which champions the use of sport to improve people’s quality of life, physical and mental wellbeing.
